Maiia

Maiia Design began from a very personal experience. When I moved into my home, the very next day the lockdown was announced, leaving me with no access to labour or outside help. What started as a challenge soon became a creative journey where I designed and completed every detail myself—from furniture touch-ups to carefully selecting colour palettes and décor. As a graphic designer, I have always been deeply connected to colour, balance, and aesthetics, and this experience allowed me to translate that passion into creating a space that truly felt alive.

When people saw the finished home, many encouraged me to start an interior design business. Instead, I chose to focus on what I believe are the true finishing touches of a space—rugs and lighting. I noticed that most rugs in the market were dominated by muted tones that often made spaces feel heavy and repetitive. This inspired me to create Maiia Design, bringing modern, colourful rugs and contemporary lamps that effortlessly elevate a room—even for those living in rental homes—proving that sometimes just the right rug and the right light can completely transform a space.

Because sometimes, all it takes is the right light and the right colours to transform a house into a feeling.
