HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR MAIIA RUGS

Do not wait to unpack your rug after delivery. Why? Because this is the best way to ensure creases formed due to being folded or rolled are relaxed and your rug can be laid flat perfectly. to minimize any creases or pressure marks from being folded or rolled up.

NEED TO VACUUM YOUR RUG?

Make sure to vacuum your rug using low-power with a flat nozzle attachment. Strong power and the wrong attachment can damage the rug as the wool is delicate. Do not use a brush or rotating motor head on your rug while vacuuming.

Also, vacuum it only when you feel it needs a sprucing up. Too much vacuuming is not good for your rug’s fibres.

DID YOU STAIN YOUR RUG?

Take care of stains immediately.

Avoid harsh chemicals, bleach, or alkaline household products like toothpaste, borax, baking soda, etc. They will surely cause discoloration and damage.

Avoid agitating the stains and use minimal water.

Dry stains: Scraping with a blunt object like a spoon and then clean with a vacuum. Be careful to not damage the rug fibers.

Wet stains: First use a dry paper towel and then dab lightly with a clean undyed cloth, colorless detergent (soap or laundry detergent), and lukewarm water. Do not wet the rug too much, this can cause the rug to shrink and lose its shape.

Pro tip:
Call professional carpet cleaners, to be safe.

Things to remember

  • A bit of shedding is absolutely normal in a new rug. It will stop in some days.
  • If only one part of your rug gets more sun exposure, make sure to turn it around in intervals for a uniform sun exposure.
  • If a thread comes loose, just cut it off, do not pull it out.
  • Avoid putting pressure on your rug with table legs or heavy stools. It will leave permanent marks.
