WEAVING TECHNIQUES
Our weavers and artisans are at the heart of everything we do. It is their art, passed down through generations and their individual artistic perspectives which give each Maiia piece a personality of its own . All our rugs are weaved by artistsin Bhadohi, Benaras. Our lamp shades and cushion covers are created artfully by artists from villages all over India.
SWEDISH KNOTTING
The technique typically involves wrapping the thread or yarn in a specific pattern or design on the surface of the fabric, securing it with stitches to create a raised,textured effect.
HANDTUFTING
Hand tufting is a technique used in textile and rug making, where a design or pattern is created on a fabric or backing by inserting tuftsof yarn or thread through the surface using a hand-held tool.
HAND WEAVING
It’s an ancient and versatile technique that involves the crossing of horizontal (weft) and vertical (warp) threads to produce cloth,tapestries, rugs, and various other woven products.
